Annette B. Farrington has been teaching flute and performing in the Rochester area since 2000. As an active musician in the Rochester area community, Annette is principal flute in the Penfield Symphony Orchestra, Cordancia Chamber Orchestra, Greater Rochester Women's Orchestra, and Flower City Society Orchestra. She collaborates in solo and chamber music recitals, performs with various local pit orchestras and choral groups, and plays frequently at Asbury First United Methodist Church where she also leads a multi-generational flute ensemble. In January 2014, she was selected to participate in the inaugural Community Side-By-Side concert with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and in May of that same year performed as soloist with the Perinton Concert Band. Her flute playing was heard on TCM cable network in 2005 and 2010 with the Flower City Society Orchestra performing the soundtrack for two silent films: Captain Salvation and Poor Little Rich Girl. In 2006, she was a performer and workshop presenter at the National Flute Association convention in Pittsburgh. Her CD credits include work on Ken Kruezer’s album, Crushed Violets, and on Smart Songs for Active Children by Vincent Nunes.
A native of West Memphis, Arkansas, she received a Bachelor of Music Education from Arkansas State University (cum laude), graduating with departmental honors, and a Master of Music in Flute Performance from Florida State University. Her principal teachers were Charles Delaney and Ann Marie Johnson. She has been a performer in masterclasses with Jean-Pierre Rampal, Thomas Nyfenger, Lorna McGhee, and John Bailey. At the 2013 winter conference for the New York State School Music Association, she presented a workshop on intermediate level NYSSMA solos and has led workshops at Nazareth College’s continuing education summer programs. Annette Farrington teaches applied flute and flute methods at Nazareth College where she is also a member of the Wilmot Wind Quintet. She is a NYSSMA adjudicator.
Annette is an enthusiastic supporter of the Rochester Flute Association having served as President, Newsletter Editor, Corporate Membership Director, and on the faculty of the RFA/Hochstein Flute Camp.

Her studio is conveniently located off the Elmwood Avenue exit in Brighton where her husband and black cat, Treble, enjoy all the music making.
